Les oblats de Marie Immaculée

Fondée en 1816, à Aix-en- Province,France Par L'abée Cherles Joseph Eugene de Mazanod, qui devint par la suite, Eveque de Marseille;l'objectif originel de la communauté est de rechristianiser les campagne de France désafectées du catholisisme depuis la révolution française.

Ils ont étés la congregation religieuse catholique dominante dans le nords ouest du Canada. Ils avaient un rapport avec les Métis. Ils ont jouer aussi le role fondamental dans l'établissement de soin de santé et desd réseaux d'aide social

Vital-Justin Grandin

Grandin Vital-Justin est né à Saint-Pierre-Lacour[aujourd'hui Saint-Sur Orthe] (mayenne),France,Le 28 février1829,de Jean Grandin, Hotelier et cultivateur, et de Marie Viellard; décedé à Saint Albert, Alberta, le 3 juin 1902.

Vital était enore tout jeune lorsque sa famille s'établit à Aron et il fut placé au petit seminaire de Mans en 1850,puis apres un pref essai au séminaire des Missions Etrangers De Paris (1851), il entra au noviciatde Notre Dame de l'Osier le 28 décembre 1851 et fit profession perpetuelle le 1 janvier 1853.Il fut aussi ordonné pretre é Marseille, le 23 avril1854,par Mgr. Charles-Joseph de Mazenod, fondateur des Oblats.

En 1869, il s'établit à Saint Albert et travailla surtout aupres des Cris et des Pieds-Noirs.L'eveque fut vicaire des missions [Provincial]1868-1897 et premier eveque de Saint- Albert,le 22 septembre1871.

Monseigneur ALEXANDRE TACHÉ (1823-1894)

Mgr Alexandre-Antonin Taché appartenait à l'une des familles les plus distinguées de notre pays. Son père, Charles Taché, officier militaire, était le frère d'Etienne-Pascal Taché, ancien premier ministre au temps des Canadas-Unis. Son frère aîné, Joseph-Charles Taché, écrivain et homme politique, est l'auteur de Forestiers et Voyageurs. Les Taché sont établis au Canada depuis 1730. Par sa mère, Louise-Henriette de la Broquerie, le futur archevêque descendait, à la cinquième génération, de Pierre Boucher de Boucherville, gouverneur de Trois-Rivières, dont l'une des filles, mariée à Gauthier de Varennes, fut la mère de La Vérendrye, le découvreur de l'Ouest en 1731. Alexandre-Antonin naquit à Rivière-du-Loup (Témiscouata) le 23 juillet 1823. Mais, son père étant mort en 1826, il fut élevé et reçût sa première éducation à Boucherville, au manoir de la Broquerie, où sa mère s'était fixée. Femme exceptionnellement douée et cultivée, Madame Taché forma ses enfants avec une remarquable distinction. Monseigneur se félicita toute sa vie, comme d'une grâce de choix, d'avoir eu une si bonne mère.
